The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) is one of the United Kingdom's largest trade bodies representing 30,000 companies with 600000 employees. It has brought together the essential components of the UK automotive industry to form a federation to represent its aims and objectives to Government, Parliament, industry and the consumer.

Formed more than 80 years ago, the RMI is the voice of thousands of businesses which distribute, service and repair new and used cars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles, petrol retailers, vehicle recovery operators and those providing specialists automotive engineering services. The RMI is the lead body of an industry whose turnover is in excess of £ 65 billion per annum in motoring taxes. The RMI works closely with the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) which represents the industry throughout Scotland.
The RMI is committed to a continuing dialogue with Government, with the motoring organisations and with industry.
